  1. It's still there. See it at wilderrv.com . They raised the price about $3000 so they could reduce it by about $8000
  2. I think KMG is correct about the windows - except maybe for a special order. I'm not aware of any insulation option from the factory. Did someone do such a good job of insulating that it looks OEM?
  3. Gently used - you better believe I would.
  4. I used pipe clamps to slightly compress mine when installing it. Unless a thief brings his own pipe clamps it will not come out of the receiver. No need for a lock that way.
  5. $60 for a three pack w/ about 17 uses per cartridge. It's a "space blanket" type material - very tough. No diverter - everything wrapped up together. Pet pad for absorption but wouldn't have to use them. Only affordable for us because we mainly use it alternatively. But the mechanism is there for cartridge use when you get into "carry everything out" situations.
  6. It seems to me that we have a sudden rash of new posters (and a few old friends that have returned after too long a silence). Good to hear from each one of you. It is apparent that many of you have been reading thru past posts gathering information. Thanks for your participation!
  7. Sounds like you may have resolved your problem - time will tell. We sleep in our conversion when traveling and had gotten used to storing flip flops in the side door step well. But we stopped that after one got trapped in the closed door. That little bit of spongelike material made it impossible to open the door. Had to do the crawl around and pull it on out from the outside.
  8. I totally agree with your concerns regarding a rear end collision. Since I don't tow anything, I keep a Bumper Shield XL permanently installed in the hitch. It also helps with stepping in and out of the rear doors. Check it out at sparebumper.com . Not a perfect solution (what is?) but perhaps enough to help out on city streets.
  9. Edgar - We replaced our chemical toilet with the Laveo Toilet by Dry Flush - bought it from teardropshop.com . Expensive compared to the chemical toilet we had but this one actually feels like a real toilet. We keep the cartridges on hand (maybe for an extended stay in a national park) but normally just line the bowl with plastic bags and pet pads. It's just for emergencies anyway. Disposal is no different than throwing away a baby diaper. That cavity discussed is definitely the spot for a small tank (unless you want to move the spare tire. Take a look at plastic-mart.com . They have a section labeled Rectangular Water and Waste Tanks that may be just what you need.
  10. Quiet7 - Another factor to consider is how the NV is built. It is more truck than van. With the NV you have in front of you and your family a heavy motor and substantial crumple zone in the event of a wreck. With any of the competition the driver and front passenger are "first ones to the scene" as they say. Definitely something you hope never gets utilized but something to consider nevertheless.
  11. Yes - please post the photos as you have time - a great help to a lot of us. Thanks!

Be sure to watch the very short video on the vacuum forming process - it will show you a lot more about the product than you can get from a still photo. They also indicate willingness to send out a sample of the material on request.

There should be a lot of owners interested in this (until they see a price). But it sure would save a tremendous amount of labor to offset that expense.
  14. Ksh74c - Did you happen to also check the meter? Interested in how many bars on the meter 187 deg corresponds to.
  15. Ed, Radin2son said it correctly - "it's a truck". Go with the Nissan and you'll not regret it. These vehicles have been so reliable that your interaction with commercial will be minimal. If you do need them, they stand behind their product. Best of luck with the build. Keep us posted on your progress.
  16. Yes - use it. Worth the trouble. Too many vibrations even on good roads. Been too long since I dealt with the bolts. Seems like I remember the cargo lights had a different sized bolt.
  17. Couple of photos - one just shows the head of the plastic rivet
  18. My wife has a mini-me (Kia Soul) that matches our high roof NV (both white). They are something to see sitting side by side in the driveway. By the way, she really likes the Soul for getting around town - which is 95% of its usage for us. AND, 38 mpg on the hwy. Hope you're not gone for good. You have been a valued member of the forum. Best of luck down the road...
  19. Don't remember any drilling for these - someone else correct me if I'm wrong. There are two metal clips that push into place on a metal lip after you pull back the weatherstrip moulding. The deflector then attaches to these two clips with two plastic push rivets. The main attachment, of course, comes from the 3M type tape that runs along the upper length of the deflector. And the best thing is - if you miss the placement on one of the clips and things don't line up just right, you can just drill a new attachment hole thru the lexan (or whatever it is). No need to even ask me how I know this
  20. It is a little more involved but not bad. You will have to drill a few holes. Instructions are good but seemed mirror imaged - but that was probably just me. It's probably a 5 or 6 out of 10 on the world of difficulty. To me, mainly just figuring out what they were trying to tell me.
  21. Pretty easy install - instructions are good. Mine have been on 3 years - still look new and are secure.
  22. August!?!?!?!? - of which year?
  23. Check out pearlauto.com for a just announced rear view camera that utilizes an iPhone for the monitor. Pricey but has potential.
  24. Seaweedsteve - Would you provide us with a link to the promaster forum you are citing. I gather info from a variety of sources and would like to add them to my list. When I first started researching van conversions, I spent hours reading thru the sprinter forums. Those guys really like to talk.
