2015 Internal Temp Control at -40F
andy_george replied to GrowingFamily's topic in Nissan NV 3500 HD
I'm almost afraid to try, in case it permanently screw something up...:/ ! You saying that all the vans in their lot doing the same thing is very, very wierd.... It must be a software issue on a certain run of vans...? If I run the test soon I'll let u know...! -
Yeah, Happy Thanksgiving to all! Anyone on the forum, living in the good ol' USA, blessed enough to afford a vehicle like the NV, surely has lots to be thankful for!

Question about reliability of NV3500
andy_george replied to Joey Bailey's topic in Welcome! Introduce Yourself!
Can't help ya here.... We have 4 kids, and have always been afraid to own a family vehicle with anything but leather.... If you decided to go cloth I'd assume one of those seat liners would be a good safety net.... -

That is so wierd..... Keep on them until it gets fixed. Or else the first NV rally may have to be held in their parking lot, if ya know what I mean....:) -
Question about reliability of NV3500

That does sound like a great price. My 2014 SL was right around $38,000 here in Michigan. -
Question about reliability of NV3500
andy_george replied to Joey Bailey's topic in Welcome! Introduce Yourself!
We have a 2014 SL. Love it. No issues so far, at 24,000 miles. They are built tough, and are not loaded down with electronic comforts, sensor-laden driver assist features, and gimmicky and flimsy interior bits. They may not be the most luxurious passenger vehicles available, but the chassis and drivetrain are extremely stout and proven, and there just aren't many other areas I expect issues for a long, long time. -
Dang, like you said, that looks like it rolled off the factory floor. Makes me wonder if we would really appreciate something like that on our couple-times-a-year roadtrips. I'm gonna kick that around some.... Good work, looks awesome!

2016 pickup truck of the year competition has started...
andy_george replied to radin2son's topic in Lounge - Off Topic
I totally agree. I think of the NV more like a Suburban with actual useable space more than anything else. The wife calls it the "Van-urban";) -

So far I've heard nothing negative about the XD yet, other than it's a little on the heavy side. All the reviews seem to love the drivetrain, and I've heard even the interior beats the domestics.... That's awesome! Hard to tell how the NV would score in a van competition. It's undoubtedly the best in it's class, but wih all the girly euro-vans out now with better mpgs, more car-like chassis, and super tall and long boxes, it's such a hard comparison.... -
Wow, very impressive with the apparent strength. I didn't expect to see the huge boxed section and 6 mounting bolts. Well done!
-
I'm hoping other than changing the oil, keeping fuel in her, and changing tires, I never need YouTube vids showing maintenance on the NV!;)
-
Hmmm, not one that I've heard of. Ours has never acted this way, thankfully. Let us know what you find....

Turn sensors off

I don't believe there's a way to turn those sensors off, but the front of your van sure looks sweet!- 10 replies

2016 or 17 meetup/gathering... Missouri?
andy_george replied to radin2son's topic in Events & Gatherings
I'd be intersted! Living in central Michigan makes the UP my obvious first choice, but I'd consider going wherever the meet was. Our business keeps us busy most weekends in the summer though, so it's doubtful I'd even be able to make it, but I'll keep tabs on the plan and see what develops! -
We went from a Savana to the NV. But our Savana was an Explorer conversion van, so the interior was very different than the 12 passenger model you have. So I can't compare the interior packaging for you, but I can say what we love about the NV versus the GMC. Just a quick list off the top of my head.... -the dash and door panel plastics are much more solid and less creaky -the steering feels much better -the brakes are 1000 times better.... Our Savana had horrible brakes, even after I bled the lines and installed as grippy a brake pad as possible. Very common on the Savana. -the doors close with a much more satisfying "thud" -the overall handling feels much more stable.... Similar to a pickup, and less "tippy" than vans -the Savana had the 5.3.... The NV has a lot more power, and is much quicker, especially on the low end. And now we have an extra transmission gear, but the NV doesn't downshift nearly as much as the van did. -rear hvac is better in the NV. But that may have been influenced by the conversion? - if you do your own maintenance you'll LOVE the room under the hood. If I think of more I'll post it....
-
Congrats! Sounds like it'll be an amazing experience! You guys are so young!..... Can you work careers out of the van, or are you living he dream of retirement at 30?! Can't wait for the updates!

I had Ameriprise insurance, they wouldn't cover the NV. Progressive did, and seems like a fair price IMO. Not sure about the customization though....
