  1. ok guys, been super busy here and haven't had time to post up...... So the cool little secret I discovered on the trip. It's a self diagnostic the vehicle can run. It's checks everything from blower motor, windshield wiper, lights, horn etc. Here's how to do it..... turn the key to the "on" position. There is a black rubber covered switch on the b pillar for the lights in the cab when you open the door. Push it exactly ten times. turn the key to off, wait a second, turn it back to on, you should here a quick horn honk. Stand back outside the vehicle and watch it check all of it's funtions. If there is a problem when it's done it will alert you on the dash. If not it will just recycle through, when you see the wipers go for the second time just turn the key off. Pretty darn cool, try it !!
  2. I don't think there is any interest in a factory 4x4. Quiqley was referenced many times. My .02 is they have many other things they will divert money to first. Remember, it's all about budget. Seems a cab chassis might be what they have their eyes on next. I thought it would be an extended. only time will tell! I also have a real interesting trick for you guys to try with your NV. I'll explain it to you guys tomorrow.
  3. We just discussed a whole bunch of this and the bottom line is that Nissan seems dedicated to staying in the "body" on frame business partly in due to GM. Every single sign points to GM bringing in a EURO product. And that is straight from the brass. And as for 4x4 I don't see why after having table talks about this why it would ever happen. If snow tires won't cut it for some reason you do have quigly and it is a good option.
  4. So I just got back from an impromptu meeting with select dealerships from around the country. It wasn't so much a round table about specific product challenges but more about policies. Given we had a one day window and then a half day at the plant, it went fast. We never really spent too much time on a topic. A few take aways. They are going to be increasing production, which is great for us. I saw a lot of passenger vans coming off the line so that would be great thing as the largest complaint was lack of inventory. Diesel...."is being thought about, but would cost 10-15k" Extended.... "is being thought about" but re crash testing and modifications appear to be prohibitively expesnive. Cab Chassis.... "is being closely considered". Definately seems to be the most likely to appear next. An interesting takeaway on the new titan.....All techs will be trained and need to be certified on diesel. However there will be NO tear downs at the dealership in the event of an issue. Engine will be removed and sent to cummins, new engine will be installed. Almost couldn't believe it when they said that. Good for the consumer. The plant was amazing, spent a whole bunch of time there. It was so suprising to see how friendly and happy literally all the employees are at that facility. There was a bank, doctors office, pharmacy, all built in. There were robots everywhere driving themselves around with parts, welding, etc etc. I learned many new things but one thing I did not know is every single nissan is test drove before being approved. Every other manufacturer cannot claim that. I have to get caught up at work and can maybe post more later......but again alot of it was internal policy type stuff.
  5. I agree.......but have them check it out. I like the others here think they drive great, I have not heard of an issue like this before.
  6. That really really sounds like a worn out key, I guess that's not the case though.... I would certainly look to the lock cylinder next. Bottom line is you need to get it to the dealer. If you've tried different keys and elminated that they'll need to spend some $$ and investigate further. I've personally never heard of that before.
  7. Don't know where he got this from, and he definitely isn't a gear head, but he was changing oil ever 8k, stayed strictly on mobil 1. Even when he was running with a load, he always kept it to 60 with cruise on the highway. In all reality that is very easy on a vehicle, about as easy as it could possibly be. I can't say for sure how much life that powertrain has left in it but lets say that you could jump into a truck with 20k and I don't think you'd know which one was which. If anyone would like to know what I gave him on trade PM me. I just feel that maybe it's wrong to put up publicly.
  8. He traded for another....he purchased 2500SV V8 HR. And honestly he could have easily kept running the truck but that's just the life cycle that he is comfortable with on his vehicles. What is really crazy is that he has driven more miles in a given period of time than anyone that I can think of in recent past that I've dealt with. As if 267k since 2012 isn't wild enough, the vehicle hasn't been driven in 6 months. He took time off and the vehicle was idle just doing a local errand here and there he said.
  9. I have a guy that I see for service. Whenever I see him again I will try to take a picture of his rack. He did a homemade with aluminum tubing and just left it raw...looks realy nice and is very simple.
  10. I'm only about 4-5 months in with the Nissan product, so when an expediter showed up this weekend with his trade showing 267,000 miles I was excited to check it out. The most I had seen previously was about 150,000. So the vehicle itself, 2012 NV3500 SV V8. I did take it in a trade and I had the chance to drive it for about 15 miles. After the drive I got out and was nothing short of impressed. The engine was responsive, no ticks or strange noises. The vehicle itself was very tight....honestly there was no strange creaking or rattles, button faces were not worn off, really nothing to mention, other than rock chips and normal wear and tear from a cosmetic standpoint inside the bed from all the cargo the vehicle was exceptional. Other than normal maintenance, and I think an alternator he said the thing has not had one single issue. I think this thing has a whole ton of miles left on it. Just thought you guys would like to know!
  11. oh man, I've never even heard of someone getting a ticket like that before. Maybe the police in illinois are not strict on that.
  12. weight distributing hitch and brake controller and you'll be fine. Out of curiosity, why do you reference length of the trailer. I have guys that for better or worse move REAL heavy loads with their NV's while having thousands of pounds inside as well. I have one guy specifically that pulls a 11000 pound bobcat. I of course can't advise that but I do know he does it.
  13. On paper I would agree with you that pro master looks good from a spec standpoint. I do not like that they matched our warranty but kudos to them, but the whole point is not to have to use it and the Nissan badge on the front is a BIG driver for buyers. But in this segment price is the driving factor period end of story. The dodge is a quite a bit more than the ford or nissan. These are fleet vehicles. 90% of the NV200's I sell are to corporations or individuals who will never be driving them. I have not sold a single one to a person anywhere near max cargo or looking to tow a thing. The buyer/driver market is just so small. And then even within that group 50% of them come in and say, I don't need floor mats, I don't want cruise control, I don't need power locks, this will be my work truck and I want the cheapest one with as little to no electronics as possible. On a side note, can you imagine a 9 speed transmission? My daily driver is a 78 bronco with 3 speed c6. When I jump into my hummer I always ease on to the throttle on the highway to prevent downshifting because I'm just over obsessed with wear and tear which may be a little silly. I literally can't imagine how much that vehicle is shifting. It must be constant. The war that's going on right now between the CVT and multiple speed tranny has been heating up. I don't know how I feel about this but I think we will see CVT's in almost everything. It's just such a simplistic design. I wonder at how many speeds these transmissions will max out at.
  14. I love doing projects like that. I like the skid guard. But Jeesh....I do not miss those salty mid west roads. You spray down her undercarriage a lot? My last year out there I kind of got stuck using my 78 bronco which had previously never seen salt. I know have a few places where the rust has started. Hurts me to even think about it :/
  15. you know what rick....I'm partially responsible for this by continuing to feed into you so I will stop after this post. I did respond on your thread and via PM, it's called beating a dead horse. Your attempt to defame me because of a differing opinion is classless. This unit for you is in fact sub par when comparing to leading edge passenger vehicles....so what, you shouldn't have bought it. I don't care if your salesman didn't explain everything to you. Sure that's not cool, but ultimately, before I spend a grand I research things because I that's a lot of money to me and I want to make sure it will fit my needs. You didn't, only person you have to blame is yourself, not the dealer or Nissan. Refer to what's been said already by myself and others for conjecture on why the function may be that of what it is. Your allowed to have your own opinion. I don't agree with you on almost anything we've talked about, including your bizarre statement about my right to post here and Nissan dropping the ball with the NV. I love selling the NV and driving one for work on a daily basis. I spend ALOT of time in and around them and like a few of my other counterparts here that are in my same industry, can bring a unique perspective and actually offer help to people like Mr. Olaf when something is needed. I think you got the point of this whole thing anyways.
  16. You should totally start a thread on here and tell people how you did this. Did you use an off the shelf retrofit or something out of another vehicle? I think everyone would love to hear
  17. I don't disagree about the commercial, and I also don't disagree with your brand loyalty statement when comparing to the dodge. I do see validity in other products (Transit and Sprinter) and more importantly the dealerships that must service them.
  18. I do not, hopefully someone will chime in. I don't even have one here to go out and check, they sell too well. If there's any metal in the toy and you think it might work magnets on the end of a telescopic rod from the auto parts stores work GREAT. I also have one of these, it's flexible and super effective, you can get it from lowes or home depot. http://www.homedepot.com/p/GrabEasy-Grabber-and-Retriever-PF0401/202505170
  19. I'm on South Blvd in South Charlotte. Scott Clark Nissan. If you're heading out this way I'd love to see the work that was done. PM me if you're headed this way!
  20. That's a nice looking install. I like that you can remove it so quickly.
  21. Rick, the only thing we have pm'd about is your radio so I have no idea what your suggesting. The reason why I PM'd you is because just like what I'm about to write here, it detracts from the forum, is off topic, and rude in this case, to the new member who started his first post. Rick I'm always up for a lively debate, different opinions, and people who want to talk about it. And I think we did that, you started a thread and we all talked about it. This forum is in general a medium for people whom are passionate about their vehicles to do research, discuss relevant topics, and for many have a good time. What you wrote in this guys post is off topic, has absolutely no merit or informative quality, is decisively negative. I personally don't want to hear it, it's rude and immature. I enjoy this forum and members on it, were a good mix of people and I think we all belong and have positive contributions to make, including you. However you mentioning I have less rights to be here than you is probably one of the most childish things I've ever read on an adult forum. I don't know who you think you are or what your mindset is to even make a comment like that, it tells me that rational conversation and thought is out the window with you. Go ahead and hang around here, I just hope you don't infect all the topics with posts like above. Like I said before, the best solution for you is to sell the your truck because your unhappy. You are the only person here thinking Nissan "blew" it. So actually you are in luck because of that, the used market is very strong for lowest cost of ownership in segment, well made, best in class warranty vehicles. Cheers!
  22. I do plan on bringing up the forum. It has already been a topic of discussion, mr Olaf and I have talked and I have passed along a link to his thread and contact information to an individual from Nissan that may be able to assist.
  23. I'm trying to be really nice on this topic....in all honesty I literally have nothing nice to say about that vehicle, or the way most dealers handled the service of a European product when they had the rebadged sprinter. I just can't imagine what the driving factor would be to purchase one of those. I am jealous though that they do offer different configurations and a cab chassis. I would love to have that
  24. The back end on the truck when behind it just doesn't look right, I couldn't agree more. The fwd is about the only thing I find interesting about that truck. Not that I like it but I do understand a case could be made for it in the correct application.
  25. To remove it just undo four bolts, the nuts and large washers are tack welded underneath. So honestly with socket and ratchet maybe 5 minutes with a blindfold on :) daydreamin....the seat is made by the best aftermarket manufacturer in my opinion, which would be freedman seating http://freedmanseating.com/ It cost the customer about $1200 including taxes, install, whole enchilada. Never seen a single seat install like that, usually people add a bench with capacity for two or three. A bench would cost approx only about $300 more. Please keep in mind though, price can vary largely based on the seat chosen (this was a high quality seat) and the shop chosen to do the work. It does cost way more to have a reputable shop do the work, and you would want nothing less unless you did an install yourself and were comfortable that your quality of work was sufficient to have somebody's life in your hands so to speak when they ride in that seat. If one were to ever read this and want to look into this contacting a handcap mobility dealer in your area that deals with custom seating all the time is an excellent place to start. You can add glass to both sides and for that your looking at about 1k to 1.5k. Please remember, as crude as it looks, this owner was worried about transporting a worker literally sitting on a bucket (as many do) in the back of the van. This is a minimal cost when you look at the liability consequences of an injured worker who was sitting on the bucket or folding chair in back.
