Van Competition Continues to Heat Up
Chris_CommercialManager replied to Chris_CommercialManager's topic in Lounge - Nissan NV
I don't know what it is, and I'm not just bashing.....but there is something about the ford that I'm just not sold on looks wise. Although none of these vans are really "lookers" :) -

Van Competition Continues to Heat Up
Chris_CommercialManager replied to Chris_CommercialManager's topic in Lounge - Nissan NV
Olaf I agree with you that they should offer something real nice like that. Mc2guy.... I think literally every person that I've had through my showroom doors has come through because a suburban type vehicle just won't work. I truly believe NV passenger is in a league of it's own. I sold a TON of 60k benz passengers and honestly it wasn't half as nice for a family (much more of a commuter shuttle). I'll say this about the Charlotte market...I see ALOT of NV's a day driving around here in charlotte. I honestly see MAYBE 1 full size transits and maybe 1-2 Pro Masters. I couldn't tell you how many chevy's and ford econolines I see of course. I don't think I've EVER seen a Transit Passenger on the road. -
Trip to Canton Plant.

There is a confirmed second shift being added for NV production so you can count on that. Titan production, nor production of any other vehicle will at that plant have an influence on the NV. The main assembly line will not accommodate the NV so it has it's own dedicated space in the plant where nothing else is assembled. -

How often do you get on the road? I absolutely love to drive and explore, wish I could do way more of it than I get the chance to now. -
Stuff like that gets iffy these days. It's not that you couldn't figure out a bypass with a wiring schematic technically get it to work, because I'm sure you could. But my question would be what impact would that have on other operating systems on board. I would definitely second the just mount another one because they are cheap solution!

It was explained to me as a full systems diagnostic. So I'm assuming if it cycles through things down to something as minor as windshield wipers, it is running through most all systems that could throw a code and cause a warning light to be initiated. -

How many NVs can you sell?

That is sad to hear :( I don't know if you guys remember any of my first posts here but the situation is such that many dealerships do not know how to handle the commercial vehicles and their consumers. -
Van Competition Continues to Heat Up
Chris_CommercialManager replied to Chris_CommercialManager's topic in Lounge - Nissan NV
See I think there will be price drop. I was with Mercedes for years and have seen the popularity increase so much every year. I just don't know how they will keep that going with the ford copy coming out if they don't make changes. By doing this they they are all in. They do very very well commercially around the world and are a very strong player from a financial standpoint in the industry. If you don't think they are holding some cards and have a good game plan to combat ford I think we're all joking ourselves. This must make chevy quiver too. Their purposed imported euro van that may hit our shores will even possibly be at a price disadvantage right out of the box. I think they undercut the ford on price and have a plan to reduce maintenance. Even if they accomplish those things Nissan is gaining a very strong presence in many specific markets they don't play in. I think this will have little to no impact on us givin the present info. Ford and Eventually Chevy may feel some pressure though. -
nissan nv passenger wanted
Chris_CommercialManager replied to Jeffery Sze's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
in the off event someone reads this who actually has one to sell I'd advise you to post what you'd like to pay. If you PM me I'll keep my eyes open for you. It will be a hard search but not impossible. -
I'm telling you this as a person of the public and you cannot mistake this as advice from Nissan, who doesn't employ me anyways......as nissan has previously stated it's 7k in your situation. I wouldn't have two thoughts about throwing a uhaul hitch on there, a weight distributing hitch and doing what your suggesting. But that's just me. These vans are built tough as all get out. I have not seen an NV in my shop with a transmission failure....Period...

I just got off the phone with the Nissan Senior Commercial and Fleet Aftermarket Engineer on this one so you can take this as gospel. It has nothing to do with the hitch itself. The vehicle with the factory tow package has two differences. A "tow" switch and a modified shift schedule for the transmission were performed based on extensive testing and tuning at "Bakers Grade" in CA. Not what you wanted to hear possible but that is the reason for the rating difference.

I'm telling you guys, this is becoming a fiercely contested portion of the market. This is very interesting. http://www.freep.com/story/money/business/2015/03/06/mercedes-benz-vans-plant-500-million-plant-south-carolina/24490625/

I just started selling these in the 14 model year, I've have not poked around many 2012's to quantify the differences. You are correct in that a hitch is standard on a 3500, I'm surprised it wouldn't have been in 2012? I do not have any factory literature on a 2012 to reference but where are you finding this info on different towing capacities? I have never heard of that before, and to take it a step further everyone I've asked and every place I just looked references a 9500lb capacity. On many vehicles when you add a "tow" package you pick up auxiliary coolers, to keep transmission heat down and maybe maybe that could cause a fluctuation on those specs however I don't even believe that to applicable here because i believe very strongly that even if your 2012 did not have a hitch would still have the cooler. maybe bates or someone who has been around longer than I will chime in here. I would not hesitate to tow your load with a weight distributing hitch and of course good brake controller. Look into the brand "Reese". Also please remember, when towing a heavy load like that you will need to step up your maintenance intervals. Fresh fluids are your friend, and not just motor oil.

How many NVs can you sell?
Chris_CommercialManager replied to radin2son's topic in Lounge - Nissan NV
Well having just come from the factory and hearing from dealers all over this great country of ours there is definitely a shortage in general and a few other factors leading to muted sales numbers. I will tell you for a fact Nissan is adding another shift at the plant and production will be doubled. I take everything I can get here, literally everything...and I'm still forced to reach out for more sometimes. -
Maintenance: what to change and when
Chris_CommercialManager replied to radin2son's topic in Maintenance
Nissan "recommends" the intervals on the oil changes. In the event of a catastrophic event your going to be covered if you run over the intervals, within reason of. We would need to prove that you did something malicious for you not be covered. ie...finding alot of sludge build up from severe abuse and maintenance neglect. On a side note, I know I'm old school but my father taught me to change oil every 3000 miles. I do it even today with mobil 1 in a few of my cars. I have never had engine related failure in any of my daily drivers, to me it's cheap insurance. Plus I don't mind doing it on the weekend with a beer in my hand and the beach boys on the radio :) -

Ram Promaster, conversation with it's driver

So out of curiosity, what are all the 4x4 van buyer's purchasing (dodge??) and what's the pricepoint? I'd imagine the new sprinter 4x4 up there is going to do quite well. -

I don't believe GM is having problems keeping up with demand....The issue is there is no production right now from what I've been told, and won't be until sometime in summer. -
